Octogone: Denis Savary

2 September - 15 October 2023 Off-site
Overview

In her spatial installations, Chloé Delarue combines latex castings, cables, industrial building materials, dissected screens and other relics of the electronic age into disturbing scenarios. The work is based on a long-standing preoccupation with the influence of technological developments on body and mind, on artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
Denis Savary works in a variety of media and designs ghostly dollhouses, alienated everyday objects and idiosyncratic cult objects. He often reinterprets cultural-historical motifs and relics, makes irritating shifts in scale, choice of materials and artisanal production and creates distorted images of the present.
For the duo exhibition at Mayday, Chloé Delarue and Denis Savary create a common physical and metaphorical space: the octagon. In it, themes, groups of works and sources of the two artists meet and create strange encounters and ambiguous narratives.

Venue: Mayday, Basel
