The show considers how artists master techniques of truth and fantasy through choices of what to conceal, make plain, or obfuscate. Within and against the relatively limited frame of a canvas or sheet of paper, the artists choose what parts of themselves or others to include and omit, constructing alternate timelines, lost futures, and surreal encounters. True Love is interested in the artist’s power to create, control, seduce, and perhaps even deceive, to establish a legible truth.
